Home Warranty Insurance Update

VIC

QBE has entered into a commercial agreement with the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) to provide Builders Warranty Insurance to eligible Victorian builders, effective from 1 July 2010. Transition from Vero to QBE, for all eligible builders with HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) has now been completed.

A new Letter of Eligibility from QBE (as agents of VMIA) has been forwarded to HIAIS clients. For HIAIS clients already eligible for Home Warranty Insurance with QBE; it is business as usual.

WA

The Western Australian Government has reached an agreement with QBE Australia, under which QBE will continue to provide domestic Home Indemnity Insurance to builders. Transition from Vero to QBE for all eligible builders with HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) has now been completed.

A new Letter of Eligibility from QBE has been forwarded to HIAIS clients. For HIAIS clients already eligible for Home Indemnity Insurance with QBE; it is business as usual.

SA

The South Australian Government has reached an agreement with QBE Australia, under which QBE will continue to provide domestic Home Warranty Insurance to builders. Transition from Vero to QBE for all eligible builders with HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) has now been completed.

A new Letter of Eligibility from QBE has been forwarded to HIAIS clients. For HIAIS clients already eligible for Home Warranty Insurance with QBE; it is business as usual.

ACT

As a result of the withdrawal of Vero Insurance from the Home Warranty market, HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) have now transitioned all of our ACT based clients to QBE.

HIAIS clients will receive letters confirming their respective eligibility and premiums accordingly. For HIAIS clients already eligible for Home Warranty Insurance with QBE; it is business as usual.

NSW

The NSW Government will be the sole home owners warranty underwriter from 1 July 2010. QBE Australia has been appointed by the Government as agent to manage new policies.

QBE, on behalf of the NSW Government, will provide home owners warranty insurance through brokers for new and renewal business.

Builders who are insured through HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) do not need to take any action and should continue to lodge applications as normal with HIAIS.

HIAIS customers will be contacted directly in the near future by HIAIS with the details of their eligibility and premiums.

HIAIS will continue to issue certificates via Vero Insurance for our NSW clients until 30 September 2010.

HIAIS will be working with QBE between now and 30 September to transition our NSW clients accordingly.

For HIAIS clients already eligible for Home Warranty Insurance with QBE; it is business as usual.
