Changes to NSW Home Warranty insurance effective October 2017

icare hbcf announces further changes to NSW Home Warranty insurance

icare hbcf has recently announced further changes to Home Warranty insurance in New South Wales which will come into effect in October 2017. The changes include the appointment of twenty four approved Home Warranty insurance distributors. After undertaking a rigorous tender process, we are pleased to advise that HIA Insurance Services has been successful in achieving appointment as one of the icare hbcf approved distributors. The tender process determined a selection of distributors that have the right capability and expertise to provide high quality Home Warranty insurance services to the building industry.

What changes are occurring?

  • All builders must have appointed an icare hbcf approved distributor to continue accessing Home Warranty Insurance in NSW from October.
  • The second tier of icare hbcf premium increases will take effect from 2 October 2017.
  • icare hbcf have confirmed that there will be no discretion allowed to the new premiums after 2 October 2017. Applications submitted after 5pm on 29 September 2017 will have the new pricing increases applied.
  • icare hbcf have recently updated the Home Warranty application forms.

If your current broker has not been appointed as a Home Warranty distributor, you will need to appoint a distributor by 29 September 2017 to avoid any delays in the issuing of Home Warranty insurance certificates and services.

How to appoint a Home Warranty distributor?

To appoint a Home Warranty distributor you will need to complete a letter of appointment (LOA). If you choose to elect HIA Insurance Services as your Home Warranty distributor you can either post or email the letter of appointment to HIAIS. Click here to download the LOA.

HIA Insurance Services (HIAIS) has achieved appointment as a distributor of Home Warranty Insurance. For clients of HIAIS there is nothing further for you to do, we will manage the transition on your behalf and will keep you updated. HIAIS will be sending you your new Home Warranty insurance premium rate chart in the coming weeks.
