Struggling with Insurance Claims?

Once your claim document is received and we confirm it has all the required information, we will submit it to your insurer, who will provide a claim number and next steps.

Assessing your claim

The Insurer will review the loss and if required appoint an assessor to investigate and quantify the loss. The assessor will provide a detailed report with recommendations to the insurer. What else can I do?

As said above, insurance is one solution to managing risks. Here are some suggestions to help reduce the possibility of claims from arising or minimising the impact of a claim in the first place.

  • Notify early and notify often: Early notification of claims is important, you can learn more about the benefits of early notification of claims here.
  • Educating your team: teaching your onsite and office team how to identify and mitigate risks can help and it is important your team members and subcontractors know their roles in identifying risks.
  • Signage on your worksite: clear signage in high traffic areas can assist, a residential construction site can have many people on it at one time, it is important that everyone knows what safety precautions must be taken.
  • Create an incident register it is important to have clear and readily available documentation of a claim or incident as this can help when processing or notifying a claim.
  • Regular engagement with your Broker: Your broker is there to support your business. You should engage with HIA Insurance Services with respect to any loss you suffer or any loss that a 3rd party alleges that they have suffered.

Claims can be very challenging and how an insurance policy may respond can be complex. As a specialist residential construction broker, HIA Insurance Services can assist your business with managing claims.
